7 Chic Anklet Jewelry and Summer Sandal Pairings

Published

on

To say that summer 2020 has been challenging would be a vast understatement. In order to capture some of the magic of summers past, we’ve turned to treasured summer trends in the hopes of maintaining some sense of normalcy and nostalgia. Old-fashioned DIY tie-dye, camp-inspired friendship bracelets and pretty-printed garments have helped to raise morale, even a little bit.

One piece that feels especially evocative of a carefree summer? The anklet. Despite its touristy reputation from a decade ago, brands are taking the ankle bracelet to new heights with both sculptural and bejeweled iterations. Missoni, Stella McCartney, and JW Anderson showed layered bohemian-beaded styles, simplistic links and diamanté straps, respectively, in their recent collections. Anita Patrickson of Amanu and jewelry designer Amanda Assad Mounser of Mounser raised the bar even higher in creating an eco-friendly, two-in-one sandal and customizable charm anklet. Though Amanu originated as a sandal brand, Patrickson notes, “Adding in hardware and charms was an organic next step for us. I adore pieces that are functional yet feel really elevated and special. Each charm is inspired by natural stones found in the ocean or products grown from the earth, with the Pirum drop as a sculptural interpretation of a pear and the Oceanus drop reflecting the smooth edges of the sea’s most precious gem, the pearl.

Whether it be a sustainably-sourced piece with dangling charms, a cheeky beaded design or a sleek gold chain for the modern minimalist, anklet jewelry is this season’s comeback trend. Pair it with an open-toe sandal and a coordinating pedicure for a full look.

Below, seven elevated perfect pairings of our favorite foot-focused trio for all occasions.

Meghan Markle’s Wedding Makeup Is On Sale at Nordstrom’s

Published

By

Remember the royal wedding? That event from eons ago, or 2018, when Meghan Markle graced the 1.9 billion people tuning in with one of the most iconic beauty moments of our generation? Of course you do. Who doesn’t?!

If you’re also still not over the modern and goddess-y no-makeup look Daniel Martin created for the Duchess of Sussex (editor’s note: IDK if I’ll ever be), I have great news for you. Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale includes not just one, but two ~exclusive~ Diorshow sets with some of the eye and lip products Meghan wore to her royal wedding.

Diorshow Volumizing Mascara Set

The volumizing mascara set

Considering how Dior Beauty never goes on sale, the Diorshow Volumizing Mascara Set is a very good deal for $59. (One of their mascaras alone retails for $30.)

The set includes a full-size Lash-Extension Effect Volume mascara, a full-size Maximizer 3D lash primer and a mini Iconic Overcurl mascara. Meghan wore the regular version of Diorshow’s Iconic mascara to her nuptials, but the only difference here is the curled wand shape (which actually makes lifting stubborn lashes slightly easier). Altogether, this is a $78 value and as an added bonus, everything comes in a really chic pouch.

The maximizing lip care set

It’s been reported that one Dior Lip Glow sells anywhere between every three seconds and one minute. Through some wizardry (or Dior Beauty’s patented technology), the beloved lip balm brings out each individual wearer’s lip color, while also hydrating and moisturizing lips. For her nuptials, the duchess wore the beloved balm in coral.

Besides a full size Lip Glow in light pink, this Nordstrom exclusive set includes a full size Addict Lip Maximizer (a glossy plumper that will makes lips instantly look fuller without feeling too tingly), and a mini-size Maximizer 3D lash primer. An $88 value, the set also includes a ridiculously cute pouch that you’d be fully forgiven for using as a new wallet.

Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale opens up to all cardholders on August 13 and the public on August 19, so start shopping or building your wishlist before everything sells out.

Hair Colors That Will Trend in Fall 2020

Published

on

By

If banana bread had a publicist (and what a good publicist she’d be at this current juncture), you can picture her trembling at this fall’s upcoming hair-color trends — or at least inviting them out for brunch. Frankly, they sound downright delicious.

From “Champagne pop” to “espresso black,” these hues clearly take inspiration from the best things in life around you. They’re also designed for easy upkeep: “My current recommendation to any client would be a low-maintenance hair color, which means switching from permanent colors to demi- or semipermanent color, or balayage,” Karissa Schaudt, a colorist at Maxine Salon, told POPSUGAR. “These are created to have a seamless grow-out and require minimal upkeep — especially during a pandemic, when touchups aren’t as scheduled.”

Most importantly, added colorist Rex Jimieson: “This year, we want our color to transition gracefully into fall by staying away from overly cool or artificial colors. They are the hardest to wear as we lose our summer glow in our skin. I would stay away from blue-based dyes especially such as gray or extrastrong ash tones. They are great for editorial moments with the right makeup lighting and editing but are very fade-resistant and harder to wear against natural skin with no makeup.”

Need more concrete examples? For the most mouthwatering hair colors that are somehow — some way! — even better than they sound, keep reading. We’re breaking down the seven biggest color trends to try in the coming months ahead.
